Where Do I Get Visual Basic 5/6? To complete any of our
older Visual Basic tutorials, you need to have a copy of Visual
Basic 5 or 6 installed on your computer. This is a separate product that must be
purchased. Microsoft has discontinued the production of Visual Basic
5 and 6,
replacing them with their new products Visual Basic 2005 and Visual Basic
2008. We offer
tutorials using both the old and new products (for information on each, go
to our home page). Visual Basic 5/6 comes in two editions: Learning Edition and Professional Edition. The Learning Edition has some limitations (there is not complete support for API functions and older versions lack help files) yet is adequate for our Visual Basic 5/6 for Kids and Beginning Visual Basic 5/6 tutorials. If you plan on any serious Visual Basic programming, invest in the Professional Edition. It is more expensive, but has no limitations. The Professional Edition should be used with our Learn Visual Basic 5/6 and Visual Basic 5/6 and Databases tutorials. |
