Java Programming Tutorials

Product No. 218-V8

BEGINNING JAVA  (Table of Contents) is an introduction to computer programming that provides an interactive, self-paced tutorial to the Java programming language. This product is written for the absolute beginner!

BEGINNING JAVA  is a tutorial consisting of 10 chapters explaining (in simple, easy-to-follow terms) how to build a Java application. You learn about project design, object-oriented programming, console applications, graphics applications and many elements of the Java language. Numerous examples are used to demonstrate every step in the building process. The tutorial also includes several detailed computer projects to illustrate the practicality of Java.  These projects include loan calculators, graphics programs, portfolio managers, checkbook balancers, and even a simple video game (Project Screen Shots)!  BEGINNING JAVA is presented using a combination of over 400 pages of notes and actual Java examples. No programming experience is necessary, but familiarity with doing common tasks using a computer operating system (simple editing, file maintenance, understanding directory structures, working on the Internet) is expected.

BEGINNING JAVA requires a Windows Vista, 7,8 or MAC OS X operating system, ability to view and print documents saved in Microsoft Word format, and the Java Development Kit  Version 8 (a free download from the Java website).  We also use NetNeans 8 as the Integrated Developement Environment (IDE) for this tutorial.

You have the option of ordering this tutorial in a Paperback Textbook Edition which includes a Digital E-Tutorial E-Book Internet download OR you can save printing and shipping costs and order just a Digital E-Tutorial E-Book Internet Download Only Edition for much less.  All of our tutorials are currently delivered in a Microsoft Word (v97+) E-Book format. The entire E-Book and/or selected chapters can be printed on your local printer and/or viewed on your computer screen. The E-Books can be downloaded from our website immediately after purchase. We compress the download files using a .zip format to help reduce the size of the files for faster downloading.

We also sell this unique E-Book Tutorial in a annually renewable Unlimited User Site License Teacher Edition.  Our Teacher Edition allows you to distribute the tutorial and source code to any of the students who attend your computer science class. You can customize and personalize the tutorial and the associated source code to fit your unique teaching style whether the class is self study or instructor led. Since this Tutorial is distributed in an editable Microsoft Word format you can add your own teaching text and/or notes around our teaching text. You can add your own diagrams and/or personalize the E-Book tutorial to fit your specific teaching needs. Unlike other Tutorials that are paper based, you can modify our teaching narrative and source code inside the tutorial and reprint as needed. This unique flexibility sets us apart from all other tutorials on the market.  We also sell special large scale multi-teacher site license agreements for School Districts and Online Schools. Please contact us directly if you are interested in a large scale license agreement.  These special large scale multi-teacher site licenses are not sold via this webpage.

"We have enjoyed the first semester of Java. I have programmed in many languages including Java, and I have a BS in Computer Science. I found this course to be excellent to use to teach my son as a homeschooling dad. Thanks for your great products." - Mark Craven, Charlotte, NC

"My 14 year old son used the Beginning Java course in the past semester, and we found it to be time and money well spent. We were able to set up the software without much trouble, and he was able to get right to work with minimal help needed at that point. He has gained great exposure to basic Java concepts and capabilities over the past 3 months. We will definitely use products from your company again in the future!"  - Kirk Rasbury (Forney, TX)

"Beginning Java is one of THE BEST step by step instruction guides to learning Java. I was a C programmer and bought this book to teach myself Java. It was money well spent as I have kept it on my desk as a Reference guide."   - Sherine Grant, IT Specialist, Kingston - Jamaica
